Speaking of manipulating, Jaggedstar is quite the expert on the subject. He can easily sweep others up with his words, weaving golden tales with his silver tongue. He has an undeniable stage presence, this sort of compelling aura. He can easily convince others to do as he wishes. He doesn’t really appear pushy since his manipulation is subtle, but if he tells you to do something… well, you better pray to StarClan that you do it.[break]
He’s confident, this one—confident in his abilities, his leadership, and his hold over his Clan. He doesn’t doubt his decisions, and you better not doubt them, either. Jaggedstar knows what he’s doing. Even when it looks like he’s made a mistake, Jaggedstar still stays confident in what he does. It’s good to see a cat who isn’t doubting themselves at every turn, but sometimes… this tabby tom can get a little too confident.[break]
Whether it’s gallant bravery or pure recklessness, Jaggedstar is a fearless sort of tom. Nothing and no one stands in his way; he doesn’t cower in the face of danger. Instead, he rises to meet it head-on. He doesn’t shy away from battle—far from it, in fact –and he never diverts a conflict. He thrives on conflict. Some call him brave, others feel he’s stupid, but Jaggedstar just doesn’t experience fear. He never has and believes he never will. He still has fears though, but he choose to ignore them as long as he can.[break]
Certainly, Jaggedstar is intelligent. He has to be in order to keep up his little manipulation of his Clan without them rebelling. He turns his intelligence into cunning, since he sets more store with brawn rather than brains—what use to him are those who think? He needs big, hulking cats who will do his will without objection or question. It’s a very fine line, the one he walks, and it will take every ounce of craftiness to continue to balance on it.

Born to two RiverClan cats, the interests of the clan were weaved into his very being. He was part of an average size litter of kits. It was him, and his two sisters, Brindlekit and Lilykit, in the litter. Their mother, Morningwind, couldn't have been happier with the three kits and spoiled them from the moment they were born. Their father, Thrushstep, was very proud and would brag to all his clanmates. The lucky parents couldn't stop talking about the kits, but the clan didn't mind hearing about them, considering most had their duties and could not watch the little ones.
Being the older and biggest of the bunch, he was in charge of watching and, occasionally harassing his baby sisters. Of course he was never mean to them, he just like to bother them when they were doing girly things with each other. Though they'd harass each other, they still were very close.

As he and his sisters' apprentice days rolled around, Russetpaw and his sisters' bond began to shrink more and more everyday. Russetpaw was unfortunate and got a very harsh mentor, Gorsestrike. He trained Russetpaw long and hard, trying to separate him from the rest of the clan. Why was Russetpaw given this mentor? Why in StarClan did Hollowstar think this was a good idea?
One day while battle training, Russetpaw and Gorsestrike were doing moves when Gorsestrike all of the sudden told him to unsheathe his claws. Russetpaw, scared that Gorsestrike would hurt him, unsheathed them and so did Gorsestrike. Next thing Russetpaw knew they were fighting. Little did he know, this moment would change his life forever. Russetpaw stopped fighting to question Gorsestrike's method of training, but Gorsestrike didn't stop and sprang at Russetpaw. He put his paws up at the last moment to protect his body and the unbelievable happened: his claw came off. This is because it got stuck in Gorsestrike's long, un-kept fur and the weight of a full grown warrior bearing down on him.
Since his claw got taken off in the fight and he was unable to train for about a moon, he was held back from his warrior ceremony. This is where Jaggedclaw learned to never trust anyone, or hold back in a fight. This effected him when the day of his warrior naming finally came, Hollowstar noticed that Russetpaw's claw had grown back rather...odd. This earned him Jaggedclaw-in honor of his claw.

In a battle against ShadowClan,during th Great War, Jaggedclaw was busy killing a smaller tom from the opposing clan when he saw his sister, Lilyheart, being pinned to the ground. Jaggedclaw pushed the tom away that he was fighting with and rushed towards Lilyheart, but it was too late. The tom has delivered the deadly bite to her fragile neck. Jaggedclaw went havoc. Of course, in revenge he fought and killed the tom, but that is the day that he really started being distant & sarcastic.

A few moons after that, Jaggedclaw recieved his first apprentice, Stonepaw. This apprentice reminded Jaggedclaw so much about himself when he was young. He took this young cat under his wing & trained this apprentice similar to Gorsestrike's method of training. The young cat then got his warrior name as the Great War was coming to an end. That was not the only big news, RiverClan's deputy had died from the war waged between all the clans.

Hollowstar had debated that whole day, rarely coming out of his did except to get fresh-kill. "Let all cats old enough to swim and hunt fish in the river, gather around the wide willow for a clan meeting!" His leader's call rang out. Hollowstar's gaze raked the cats. "I have made my descision," he started, "our new deputy will be Jaggedclaw."
