Daceclaw is always trying to prove himself, each day he does his tasks diligently and quickly. He is often the first one to volunteer for a task while never shirking his duties.
He tends to overwork himself, he tirelessly hunts and trains until he is satisfied he can do no more. Sometimes he actually makes sure he gets enough sleep but more often than not he ends up tired. He doesn't know when to stop he just knows he has be better than anyone, better than his sister. He doesn't realize that he is starting to hurt himself this way.
He usually comes off as anti-social to most cats but in reality he can be fairly sweet. With an exception to his mother, he is usually kind and even caring to his clanmates though usually he can lay on his charm a bit too much in an attempt to get everyone to like him. He tries to be nicest to apprentices, hoping to get his own one day. He enjoys casual conversations though he does tend to use his sharp tongue when irritated and can be rude unknowingly when gossiping.
He is short tempered, he doesn't like to take orders and will often charge ahead and not think clearly. He is quick to judge and quick to fight. Many cats will meet his sharp tongue and bad temper if he is in a foul mood.
He can be easily offended, he doesn't like to be negatively talked about and stresses about what others think of him though he pretends he doesn't care.
When Daceclaw is being genuine, its shown that he truly wants the approval of his clanmates and loyal friends. He is fiercely protective of the ones he cares about, terrified of loss, and he can even be charming and pleasant to be around if he is around cats he finds pleasant. He even likes to goof around a bit, but usually he is too busy trying to reach his ambitions and absorbed in his jealously to let himself be relaxed and carefree.

history
As a kit it would seem that Dacekit would grow up to be happy and strong. He was playful, got along with his sister and was known to closely follow his mother everywhere. He rarely ever wanted to leave her side, even if he got mocked for it.
He and his sibling were just barely getting use to their legs when their lives changed forever. It wasn't even a good change, they were not becoming apprentices for they still had many moons to go for that. It was the day he learned he was not quite fully Riverclan. When he began to learn he would never be quite good enough. His mother was caught by warriors from her own clan, she was found meeting her mate, his father. His father was not a clan cat, he was a loner.
For the time being their mother Grayflower was separated from them as the clan decided what to do with her.
At the time he didn't quite understand, he just knew he wanted his mother back and not this stranger in the nursery who was now in charge to watch them.
When he became an apprentice he knew something was wrong, many of his clanmates treated him and his sister with distaste and he would hear many of the cruel words they spoke under their breaths. Dacepaw thought his clan hated him, for awhile he remained quiet and meek. Speaking only when spoken too and refusing to socialize with any other apprentices.
Frostwhisker helped him though when he was training, taught him to see past the scorn and for him to do his best.
His mentor taught him that when he failed to keep trying, it wasn't long before he started exceed the expectations meant for him and learn even more advanced fighting techniques for his age. If the clan didn't like Dacepaw's blood he would prove to them he belong here by shedding other clan's blood, no matter what that cost was to him.
As time passed he noticed his mother had never truly been punished for her crime, she had been briefly banished from he duties and not allowed to sleep in any dens but slowly the clan grew to let her be a Warrior again, in time the longer was forgotten.
This irritated Dacepaw, he couldn't understand why she was forgiven so quickly and why he had to suffer for what his father was. He ignored his mother even as he went through he warrior ceremony receiving the name Daceclaw for his fierce clan loyalty and swift hunting, as Grayflower approached him to congratulate him he had turned his back on her and never opened his mouth once.
When his old mentor Frostwhisker had died Daceclaw briefly went back to his shell, hiding away from his clanmates. Frostwhisker was the closest thing he had to a father and without his mother his mentor had been a sole parental figure. For a long time he went through camp like a ghost, barely eating or even sleeping. It was at this time he became gravely ill, a young warrior clinging to life as whitecough began to turn to greencough just at the beginning at Leaf-bare. He was terrified, not only did he not want to die from a disease he didn't want to spread the rest of it to his clan. He knew how contagious it could be but despite this and the Medicine cat's warnings his mother came to him at his worse. Attempting to help in any way she can.
He still hated her, he hated for how welcomed she was for how she tried to help. She was a warrior not a healer! However, he did start to get better and as his strength grew once again he knew that after this he wasn't going to mope around camp. If he wanted something done he would have to do it himself.
When he was well again he immediately went back to his duties, it did not seem that Grayflower would return to hers though. In her time at the Medicine cat's den she had fallen ill with Greencough and while she was strong herself catching it in the middle of leaf-bare where there were few herbs ended being her undoing. After several bouts fighting the disease she died before she ever saw new-leaf. Daceclaw does not know how to feel about her death, he still speaks rather coldly of her but often refuses to even mention her anymore.
